I posted this shot to give you an idea of how well hidden they make their nests in reeds. This is the nest of female Red Winged Blackbird that I posted yesterday. When I walked down to edge of pond with these reeds she flew out of nest and perched on reed that she was on in yesterday's posting. She left the nest to attract me away from nest. I did not check for eggs in nest but am pretty sure this nest was made in last few days. Tomorrow will post picture of Male Red Winged Blackbird which does have the prominent red epaulet on their shoulders.

That reminds me of the old TV show...Empty Nest. Nice clear shot of it. Great work, Gerry.

The focus on this is top notch, Gerry, right where it should be. The lighting is super too.

Both this and the lovely profile of the female Red-Winged-Blackbird are superb and very interesting to me. Thanks for trekking thru the thicket to bring us these delightful images. I love them both....and am keeping them for desktops.

A great capture and a very good narrative to go with it.

I see a lot of these around the lakes and ponds. I posted one last winter but it wasn't nearly as good as this. Good post Gerry.
