About three weeks back I posted a picture of a female Screech Owl peeking her head out of nestbox in which she was nesting in. Well everyday I have checked this nest box out. For awhile all we seen was her peeking her head out...until about a week and half ago. I noticed an adult Owl perching in a tree on bank of Creek in which the nest box is located. This tree is about 10 feet from nestbox. At first I thought this might be the male...but not sure. Now I think the babies have been born and are still in nest box and this is the female. I have taken pictures of this Owl in tree but sometimes it is hard to get clear shot of Owl because of foliage. Friday morning checked her out about 7:30AM and found I had a clear shot of her..and with her eyes wide open...which is unusual in daylight. This is one picture from that morning. Any day we expect the babies to emerge from nest box and hopefully perch in this same tree.

A NOTE TO ALL MY FRIENDS: I WILL BE COMMENTING LESS ON PEOPLE IN MY “FRIENDS” LIST SO AS TO MAKE TIME FOR VIEWING ALL “NEW IMAGES” AND ENCOURAGING OTHER PEOPLE OF WHOM I MAY NOT KNOW OR ARE NEW TO THE SITE. I WILL STILL VIEW EVERY IMAGE OF MY FRIENDS AND STILL COMMENT ON SOME IF I CAN GIVE A GOOD CRITIQUE OR MENTION WHAT I LIKE OR FEEL IS REALLY WORKIN’ WELL IN THE IMAGE. AS FAR AS MY IMAGES IF YOU HAVE A COMMENT ON HOW I CAN IMPROVE AN IMAGE I REALLY WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THAT SO AS TO LEARN AND BETTER MYSELF.

Just a great shot Gerry. I like the leaves as a background and her face is so clear. Very nice work. Your patience pays off. Good post Gerry.

Fantastic shot, Gerry. I love the way the owl is framed with the leaves.

Excellent capture. Patience has it's rewards and shots like this are one of them. Well spotted and well captured! (Just scored it very well in the VB!)
