This wildflower grows everywhere...a lot of times you can see along the highways. I always liked the flower...but have not been able to capture the right composition and lighting for picture. Yesterday morning it was overcast and with just right backlighting was able to capture the subtle colors of this bloom. To me though, the composition is still lacking...photography...an ongoing process for perfection!!

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??
I like the way the sunlight is seen through the petals of that wonderfully colored bloom. I do see this along the highway sometimes. This image has your usual wonderful dof and clarity.

With respect to the subject 'photography' you're a perfectionist Gerry. For you this image may lack for something, but to me it's really a great post. Thanks for sharing.

1. never knew it was a chickory
2. yes, one sees them all over the places but very seldom the surroundings, lighting and/or composition seems satisfactory.
Yours is the best from what I have seen so far - in my own files and here !!!
