This Screech Owl was perched in a hollowed out section of a dead tree stump. It was about six feet from ground level which was perfect for my tripod fully extended. I tried for a few days to get a picture of this Owl with her eyes open...but no luck. They donot open their eyes much during day.

I bet he shut his eyes because he thought you were going to take flash pictures. LOL. Excellent capture of that sleeping beauty.

This gets a wow in two ways from me. First and most strking is the colour combination - her feathers are such a beautiful soft warm colour which is perfect against that lovely blue sky. Second are the textures here, you got so much detail in the feathers and, although the tree bark is perfectly blurred, its texture still comes through. Your persistence really paid off here Gerry.
