I think you've got a great subject here - this is a very simple, moving picture. I can't really comment on your manipulation and matting of it as I'm not sure what the original looked like. I'm not wild about the outer texture framing the picture myself, but this may just be a matter of personal preference. I find it a bit distracting - it gets in the way of the main focus of the image. I also think the contrast between light and dark on the exterior frame may be part of what's bothering me here, so it might not be the texture per se. I do think the idea of a rough-wall type of texture is a good choice and I think you've chosen well in going for neutral colours. I might just tone it down just a little if it were me, but others will no doubt differ from me!
