This is the worlds smallest Swan folks, & it's a resident in South America, & the Falkland Islands a small bleak British outpost with some amazing wildlife. :o) Fortunately I didn't have to travel all the way to Port Stanley to photograph it. :o)

This Swan feeds by sifting water, & mud through it's upturned bill, so keep that bread in your bag folks ! Both sexes appear alike, & a breeding pair build a cone shaped nest lined with down. Apparently their name is derived from their call, unfortunately I couldn't find a web page with a sound link .. cos - cor - oo . :o)

Although technically classified as a Swan they have Duck oops Goose like qualities too which suggests they could be the missing link between these two waterfowl !

Will all students please have a paper prepared on this subject ready for next Mondays lesson, okay the lecture's over, class dismissed. Bossy Phlossy says have a good weekend, & enjoy this now topical music link from an old British Band * 10cc * :o)

Thanks EJ, & Jerome .. I've passed these birds many times b4 but recently decided to add them to my Caedes Swan collection.
I'll be uploading another South American Swan soon which I doubt few people will have seen b4.

I hope your not trying to soft soap the teacher though ! because I'll still be expecting a good paper from you two on Monday ! ha ha

A beautiful little (but according to Wikipedia, still quite large) bird. You are right when you say it's a mixture of swan and duck. Thank you for being such a good teacher, Sir. Mum says can I be excused the test on Monday as I've got a Verruca.

Now I know where George W. came up with his recent plan to save the economy. It is going to take more than a shuffle. Good post and they look like they would be right at home in a oil spill.

Have a good weekend Stanley......................

Hmmm. I thought I commented already, but it must be that I went in search of more information on this lovely swan and forgot to return. lol I did learn a lot though and she is such a pretty thing too, but no where in my search did I find a site with the sound they make either. I like the reflection too.
