This duck is new to my gallery, I went into the tropical house to photograph it, fortunately my camera lens never misted up.

This small duck is native to Southern Africa, sexes pair for life, and breed all the year round, the couple build the nest together, and the female lays four to nine large chocolate coloured eggs which are highly prized by locals. )o: . Vegetation is a large part of their diet, and they are strong divers staying submerged for up to 30 seconds.

Lecture over kids your homework this week will be on the African White Backed Duck, and your papers must be ready by Friday!

This is a lovely shot of this duck. I really like its black and brown feathers across its back too. Thank you for the info too which is much appreciated to this bird lover.
