I had never seen a sky so pink before in my life. There were high clouds in the early (5 am) summer morning and the rising sun was reflecting off of them creating this pinkness everywhere. Mt. Jefferson in the Oregon Cascades is in the background, just capturing the first rays of the sun.

But why the fence?

If you can't find the words, you may as well shoot it...

I rarely get to see a sunrise in ORegon...once when I was in Bend I saw a gorgeous one like this...and the pinks were there then too...Must be something to do with the Cascades. I love how much Mt Jefferson looks like Mt Hood...and the pink here is gorgeous . I really like that you captured so much scenery...to show the vastness of the areas before the mountain range..the Willamette Valley is gorgeous. and Paul? I imagine the fence is there because some of that land is owned by someone. I kind of like it on the picture, but on one hand I would have loved to see it all free and open with NO fence...

Magnificent landscape, and the most beautiful colors you can imagine. Yes, in my opinion too, it could have been different without the fence (unless it has a special meaning to you?).

I took this photo standing along a highway and a fence line on the reservation of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs. The fence serves 2 purposes: it prevents the free-roaming Indian ponies and cattle from wandering out onto the highway, and it prevents a plethora of tourists from mangling the landscape. There was also a signficant ditch between me and the fence, and I was in a hurry to snap it and get on my way; didn't wanna deal with crossing the ditch. Hence, we all get the fence.

Beautiful image. When I first noticed the wire fence I winced, but after a few moments I came to appreciate the contrast of the ordinary (represented by the fence) with the extraordinary.

Well, well, a new volcano for me. I have never heard of this one. Awesome color capture. Paul commented about the fence...in a way it adds some character to the picture and then again I would like to see the photo without the fence. Since I just purchased Photo Shop this will give me practice at removing a fence. Fence or no fence, it's gorgeous. Pat
