There are great flat areas to the west of Salt Lake City that are covered with a thin layer of white salt crystals. This flat area is a spillway for the Great Salt Lake and the crystals form when the water evaporates. Really incredible in person...and a unique sight to see.

Very nice. The cloud formations certainly dont hinder the picture, it makes one feel small. I have thought about visiting there myself, but don't you think this picture would look better with a German or Italian car? :-)

I've seen barren landscapes but this is so completely featureless that it seems other worldly. Makes a good desktop if I hide my icons, when they're visible it seems like a jarring intrusion.
