This was taken on Alcatraz Island (aka The Rock) last week. On such a barren piece of stone in the middle of the unforgiving and relentless elements; nature shows her strength and beauty; as man-made structures crumble and fall away.

Beautiful shot. I didn't know there are beautiful things on The Rock. That's because of the movies I've seen. Their fault. LOL

A lovely presentation with the inclusion of the crumbling building. Lovely clarity and light in your shot; and beautiful flowers. Very nicely done.

I never would have guess where you took this shot, even though I have been there. (As a tourist, mind you.) LOL. What a gorgeous capture. The color, lighting, and clarity are super.

A beautiful heartwarming shot. Shows the resilience of nature, even in a place with a history of human misery.

Kim - An excellent photo! The mounded flowers set against the beautiful sky, with the deteriorating building on the right combine for a fantastic scene. Thad

This is very nice Kim, with good color, good light, and good focus. I think I would have crouched down just a bit to get rid of the thin slice of Frisco skyline in the background and maybe turned just a little more to the right. Removing the city and getting just a little more of the crumbling building in the photo would have strengthened the concept of nature winning over man constructions and, without the skyline, it could have been seen as somewhere out in the boonies. The only antagonist and protagonist in the photo would have been the old wall and the flowers, the sky a pleasant intermediary. Just a thought.
