Winter Whispers

I step along a powdered path
As winter's silence surrounds
Autumn leaves cling on as winter's snow
Descends and covers all color
Though still and silent it may be
Playful gusts find and rustle
The last remaining raspy leaves
And as I pass through
Winter whispers
Her deepest secrets to me.

I do not know what this plant is but I found their white papery leaves fascinating. Thought it might be fun to toss it into the current contest.

Very beautiful! I cannot remember what these are called either but they make for a great looking scene against that snow. This will make for a great contest entry. I wish you the best of luck with this great post.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

A nice capture Kim. I like the abstract faces created by the patterns on the leaves. Nice details and dof. A nice little winter poem in your narrative. Best of luck in the contest.

Outstanding entry to the contest, and a great shot. I have no idea what plant that is, but it sure looks great against the snow. Very nice, Kim.

Hello Kim...The leaves look so delicate against the wintry backgrond......It is a very good closeup showing plenty of detail in the leaves and I like the way you have filled the frame with your subject....Well done....All the very best to you Kim.............................................Mick.

This was one of my 5 selections for the contest. The photo's a little soft in focus but the subject matter is so unique. I've never seen leaves or petals or whatever these things are quite like this before. And shooting them against the white background of snow makes them pop even more.
