For telling the time, Remember it won`t work at night! I don`t think I got the colours quite right with this one. I just noticed this looks kinda dark in the thumb so please take a look fullsize. BTW it`s O/C to leave room for your icons.

I think the colours fine Ian, good job. I wonder how they told time at night in the ancient times......oh that's right they were asleep. ROFL

Love your design, Ian! As far as colors, these seem to work just fine, but maybe a little more highlights in the base of the design to give it more dimension. Just MHO, but I do love the uniqueness of this piece.

Really unusual design. I like this a lot. Maybe alexis518 is right about the highlights - I'm not sure, but it does strike me that, as a sun dial, just a little more something - "zing" - might be good.

Weren't there other ways to tell the time at night? I thought that you could make candles marked with time measures so that as they passed the marks, you knew how much time had passed. Don't know what they did before candles - probably other things to worry about.

I am honoured to be listed as a friend or to see an image of mine as a favourite, but I keep lists of neither. This helps me appreciate images uploaded by strangers as well as friends. Please understand that a failure to reciprocate in kind indicates a lack of appreciation for neither gesture nor work.
