Captured this yesterday (2018, 08-15), while having my coffee outside. The female cardinal is finally trusting me and comes for her peanuts.
Some interesting facts about the Northern Cardinals: frequently mate for life, some cardinal pairs do break up and look for new mates And if one member of the pair dies, the survivor will quickly look for a new mate. The male behaves territoriality, marking out his territory with song. During courtship, the male feeds seed to the female beak-to-beak. The Northern Cardinal is the state bird of seven states, more than any other species: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Thank you in advance for your time and comments deeply appreciated.
