The title of this one is twofold for me: First, I was balancing precariously on a mostly submerged fallen tree, squatting down to shoot this... so while I was LOVING the scene, I was being extra-aware of every movement, trying to plan for what I might do if I lost my balance. It felt serene, but fairly tense, as well. Second, I almost feel like there is too much going on in this photo. I feel like it's peaceful, yet so busy. I have another composition that's similar to this one, but taken from another position on this log. I'll share it eventually... while I like this one a lot, the other would make a better large print.
To my eyes and mind the colour palette and the quality of lighting reduces/changes your photo here from that of the setting itself ... to something infinitely more serene.
So..
The sum is definitely greater than the parts, simply put.
Look forward to seeing the other version.
And..
Having read through the accompanying narrative, will bite my tongu.. erhm ... fingers on the note of a slight shift in camera position, such that the two cottages(?)/boathouses(?) in the background are clear of the tip of the log protruding from the water.
... ...
... ...
Well, almost near bit my fingers closed. Not.. quite?
... ...
I keed, I keed.
An alluring image.
And..
But of course, thank you for sharing this look through your lens ... precariously balanced, et al.
