i have come to believe that the whole world is nothing but an enigma.a harmless enigma that is made terrible by are own mad attempt to find is underlieing truths.
I know this now. Every man gives his life for what he believes. Every woman gives her life for what she believes. Sometimes people believe in little or nothing yet they give their lives to that little or nothing. One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. And then it is gone. But to sacrifice what you are and live without belief, that's more terrible than dying.
Joan of Arc
I Love this pic. The green is amazing. The grass to me looks like it belongs there. thoughts just run away looking at this. Fantasic and Thanx for sharing.
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is a society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar,
I love not man less, but Nature more
--Lord Byron
This monastic abbey is in a full state of preservation, virtually complete apart from the roof, was built during the early 1130s, occupied by monks of the Cistercian order until 1536 when it was dissolved. Your image has captured the feel of this abbey where countless feet passed by the stately columns in its 400 year history of occupation and I would endorse the sentiments of Pierre fully. Great shot, with the green of the grass contrasting with the darker stonework, of depth and clarity.
I almost feel as if I entered a time machine! Incredible architecture. I love the contrast of the drab grey stone and the beautiful green grass. Wish I was there.
