Taken at Sandy hook, New Jersey. This was the entrance to the magazine of one of the mortar batteries in Fort Hancock that was in use from 1895 to the 1920's and has 4 sets of 4, 12 inch mortars then converted into the east coasts harbor defence comand center, that is probably why a small door is in place of a where a much larger old sliding door existed because there was the need to gas proof the tunnel....Oh and also they loaded the inside with tons asbestoses so if you do enter bring a good light and a hazmat suit, I only learned this a year after taking the picture.

The call of the adventurer.
Definitely something very ominous about this shot yet it still invites a great story. Great human tragedy is present with the only things left to witness it are steel and concrete.
Actually a great commentary on man and his inability to change adapt and accept diversity.
