A pair of Black-Bellied Whistling Tree Ducks perched on my hanging feeder for breakfast. Notice the claws on the ends of their webbed feet. These allow them to perch in trees where they build their nests.

They look amazing in the evening (or is it morning?) light.

What cool capture Irv! I have never seen ducks with toenails, although I have never actually looked ! :)...Was this a shock to see them on your feeder or do they visit often , drop in uninvited for meals? Well done. I like how one appears to be the lookout while the other one just munches away ! lol
Really neat. Thanks for teaching me something today :~)

Smart ducks! Must have put off the chickadees a bit though, huh? This is an amazing shot. Well done!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!
