2nd shot from the zoo, i know its not overly sharp, big apertures, 300mm lens, slow shutter speed, low light, doesnt always work out, anyway please post any suggestions as i would like to improve.
I like the composition and colours of this and I really like the blurring of the birds wings. Low light and long zooms usually don't go well together:) A tripod, higher ISO and larger aperture can all help to prevent camera shake. Keep up the good work.
I have no suggestions since I am not much of a photographer. It is a bit blurry, but to me they are in motion and I like the flapping wings. The birds are very beautiful.
Well I can't tell you how to fix it but i can tell you what you could think about changing. Like you desribed, the birds are blurry and thats never good. The wings in motion is kind of a cool effect that works. Overall it feels just a little out of focus completely. But none the less, keep up the good work! It'll only get better.
Good photography is about balance. I gather from your description that your lens has a fixed aperture (is it a mirror lens?), so increasing the aperture isn’t a likely solution. Like Benroy said, a higher ISO can allow you to decrease exposure time, but then the image becomes grainy depending on the quality of your camera. A tripod may help, but when the subject is moving, it is of little use (though in this case, it could have an interesting effect with the wings all blurred). You could always settle for a darker image from a shorter exposure, and then brighten it afterwards; this depends on your views as a photographer... One thing that is impressive in your photo, is the richness of the colours; I don’t think I’ve seen a rainbow lorikeet so colourful!

It seems to me that what wears us down the most in life aren't the chances we take, but the chances we dont take, the dreams we put aside, the adventures we push away, the questions that are never answered
