Phil, you were the first to get it right. I searched passion flower on google and there it was. Can't understand how it got started on the side of a railroad track. My wife is going to try to get a start off of it. Thanks all for your comments. liz i put my ear to the rail, to hear if anything was coming. lol Dwight.

Dwight, are you sure this thing didn't emerge from an alien seed pod? LOL! You're right, it is a type of passion flower. A very interesting and unusual find - I'm glad you posted it.

I've never been able to take cuttings or dig one as it has a long taproot. Your best bet is to mark it by tying an identifiable cloth around it and wait for the seed pods to come along and dry. Even then it takes a while to get started , but when it does you can't kill it by mowing it down.

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.

Once they are cut, they last one day only. There is an interesting story attached to the flower about Jesus if I am not mistaken (hence the name). Very beautiful flowers.

Yes this is a "Passion Flower" also called a "may pop" I have thes growing wild in my back yard, right now the seed pods ( the size of a large lime but green in color) are hanging on the vine. Cool space flower!

A little wind blown, probably from the trains going by.
