Thank you! I really needed a beach pic right about now...it's gotten cold again here! As always, your water scenes come out perfectly...this one is just gorgeous!
Beautiful scene, Jen. Excellent timing, as well.
Think I'd have cropped those tiny rocks off the far left. They're just enough of a distraction, to tend to pull your eye out of the picture, instead of incorporating the spray from the next larger rock to the right, into the main composition.
It's purely subjective, but have a look at it that way, and see what you think.
Doug.
Another smashing image Jen! You do have a good eye and perfect timing, I love the feeling I get from this image...I can almost hear that wave smacking the rocks. Bravo!
This shot has it all .. drama and foreground elements
I spent my first few years in hawaii .. back when Don Ho was a young man ... they have these concrete piers now and then that stick out into the ocean and my brother and I (ages, maybe 3+4) were walking out on this pier when we passed these kids splashing in the water .. I thought it looked like fun, so after watching for a while, I jumped in ... and proceed to drown, flailing around about 2 feet under the water ... I remember to this day the silohuette of my brother pointing down at me asking the boys if they could haul me out of there ... they hadn't noticed me, apparently .. so they hoisted me back up on the pier
and we continued on our way ... later we had ice cream ... LOL
Hi Jen. This is a well executed shot. From the sand to hirizon its nicely planned and captured. Your timing was really good on the wave splash too. I think u should try more stuff like this early morning or at sundown. The soothing light and the colors are the ones that lack in this shot to be a masterpiece.
You know I love this!! I love the way you can see prints in the sand and the way the water splashes against the rocks. The sky is beautiful and so is your work!!!
Boy, talk about being in the right place at the right time. The wave smashing against the rock turns this image from a mediocre shot into an exceptional one. 10 from me.
This is just super. That wave hitting that rock is off the hook. The only minor flaw are those what appear to be footprints in lower left. Other than that it's near perfect. Great job.
The colors here are amazing Jen. The browns of the sand and the blues of the water and the sky as well as the white of the frothy wave and the little bit of cloud the eye can see. I might have tried using the 'rule of thirds' a bit more here and included more sky and less sand, but everything else is quite good (looks really inviting too). Thanks for sharing this with us :~)
Well, somehow I missed this one of yours. It came up on the front page. Glad it did. I wouldn't have wanted to have never viewed this beautiful composition. It is SUPERB, girl. That wave crackin against the rocks is stunning. Nice work.
Pat
I can't believe this beauty received only an 80, and way back in '06 to boot! Well, I'm snagging a copy for my "water" screensaver, 'cause it has great color; composition; those footsteps that lead towards the water then get washed away; the lighting is perfect; shutter speed spot-on, catching the wave perfectly, the horizon line high, allowing the emphasis to build from the bottom, across all that sand, then exploding in the wave on the rock. This is excellent and I love it. If I had seen it in the booth it would have gotten a 10 from me. Great job, Jen, belatedly.
