Wire Pass is a slot canyon. Slot canyons are typically very narrow with high walls. They can be extremely when rainy conditions exist. If a flash flood would fill the canyon and someone were walking in it they would be unable to escape. Because of this, visitors must get weather reports for the area. I guess the canyon is about 12 miles long and you end up at the Paria River. We hiked in for 2 hours observing the beauty and walking through hip high yucky water. We were looking for an owl that someone had seen. It was good that we left when we did because upon reaching the entrance (now exit) it was almost dark!

Beautiful! It looks very soft and dreamy with the layers of rock seeming to swirl in a dreamy way. The colors are also in those pale peach tones, adding to the theme. I also like the touches of green adding vitality. Wonderful image!

Wow Jen, I could stare at those rock and their designs forever girlfriend! We were prepared to hike into a slot canyon in Utah, but there had been rain and it was flooded, so we missed our opportunity that time. We did wander around the rest of the canyons though and when it gets dark in those canyons, it gets real dark...the bats were out and zooming by us...ewww...
Anyway, back to the image....I really like all the different colors on the canyon floor...it is an added feature that really makes this capture stand out. Well done again my friend . Thanks for sharing this with us :~)

Interesting place you have found and captured for us Jen. I love the variety of textures and different shades of brown and beige... Cold light makes the place pretty harsh still I see some green strugling with the unfriendly environment.
