i'd like to thank all of you who had very nice words for my photos and you who had solutions for saving "the Camelot" (the boat's name). here's what i know. because no one is aboard and the sail and flags are gone she is considered abandoned. what i believe will happen is that the owners will be reimbursed for a total loss by their insurance company. then the insurance company will call a salvage company. probably the company will be one who has inflatable "collars" to fit around the boat. they will be inflated and the boat will be towed (by something with long tethers) off the reef. it will then be taken to a ship yard, fixed up and sold. why this wasn't done to begin with i have no idea. it's all about the good old insurance companies. if any of you are sailors and can offer any info. please do. no need to write comments. finis

The end to a sad saga Jen and you've captured it for us in perfect light. What is happening to the reef? Do they know how badly it may be damaged? Thanks for sharing this adventure with such a clear view of it all. Anita

If it were mine I would shore it up in an upright position and rent it out as a summer house boat. A couple thousand a month ought to do it.

A very sad situation for all party's involved. I'm hoping there is not much damage to the coral reef because it can take years & years to get back to the glory it was once in. Thanks so much for sharing this story with us Jen ... I imagine it is frontpage news.

Thanks for the story Jen. Don't like the ending, but....life sometimes don't have good endings.

Hopefully, they can salvage her. Great story and pictures of the "scene" Jen.

Great composition Jen. This one's a little bright and contrasty but still a good image. I wonder if you can tone it down some in PS? I feel so sad for those poor people who ran their boat up on the reef. Thanks for sharing this breaking news story with us. anne :-)

Sad end...At least it will be salvaged...One hundred and fifty years ago, it would've been just left there to rot...

I have enjoyed looking at your photographs about this boat Jen! I am glad, at least, that it will be salvaged and wasn't washed out to sea. Patti

I can't believe they left the boat like that. That's a nice boat unless the bottom got bashed in. Anyway, you had a good goin here. I enjoyed the mini-drama. Thks for telling us "the rest of the story"!

Saw a cruiser right up on the beach once after a storm on Maui. It just sat there for several days, then we went home and never did find out what ultimately happened. Glad you were able to follow up with this and relate this interesting albeit sad end of this pretty boat.

The ending for the Chamelot is not a good one. But the way you followed it with the history of its last cruse makes the Chamelot in death still alive. The pictures will last for more years than the boat. Good job, Jen.
