we spent a couple of days in the town of whitby. it is a charming vacation town. ...................... here's a little info on the structure.............."The ruins of Whitby Abbey, perched high on the East Cliff of the seaside town of Whitby, are visible from almost anywhere in town. Historically and religiously, Whitby Abbey has a lot to brag about: it was the home of a Saxon saint and a place of pilgrimage; it was the site of a 7th-century council that set the date of Easter for Britain; and it was the setting for Bram Stoker's Dracula." ....................enjoy! thanks for any comments/suggestions you might make!

Caedes own Ticking Spider (Tommy) lives around Whitby. This is a great shot Jen and you have been posting such nice photos from your trip. But then you post nice photos no matter where you are located. Just another fine example. Gotta go, the sun is coming up.

A wonderful and atmospheric shot Jen. Whitby always creeps me out and that's all down to Bram Stoker's Dracula, probably one of the scariest books ever written. I am told that Whitby has the best kipper smoker and the best fish and chips!

Watching this wonderful and sunny image no one would believe that Dracula was here. But in autumn when the fog comes in and the winds are howling, think this opinion would change too, lol.
Great image Jen, well done!

What an absolutely marvelous Place and Shot! You were lucky to have just a clear blue sky. Nothing distracting from this incredible ruin, it's color and detail!!

I'm fascinated by this place, Whitby is somewhere I've wanted to get to for years. I keep saying the places you've visited are on my list don't I.... I have to admit to being slightly envious. This is a very good presentation of Whitby Abbey. I reviewed a few others on here and elsewhere and you got a good angle on the place and lots of colour and texture in the stone. I like the idea that this is where Easter was introduced to Britain. Cool shot Jen.

Just wonderful, Jen. Everything is perfect in this shot. Looking at it makes me wonder about the days when it was intact and fully useable. Perfect shot for any history book.

Got this one in the voting boot the other day and gave it the highest marks. The image composition is perfect and you where so much in luck with the sky. A blue sky would not have given the same result. As i am a big fan of black and white images also, i saw a oportunity to play around with your image. In color, the image is just perfect, but in black and white, it needed some cropping and filling, hope you do not mind me playing around with it. This is what i ended up with, and have it set as my desktop right now, hope you like ! http://dutch-sites.xail.net/1.jpg
