this is another of the places we've viewed through bob's eyes. his photos of it made me sooooooo want to make a visit. it's a tidal island. one drives across a causeway which opens and closes according to the tide. this means sometimes there's water all around the island (duh). i originally shot this in a regular format but decided that it might look good in widescreen. holy island lived up to my expectations. we were lucky to be there on a not so nice weather day so the tourist population was relatively small. thanks in advance for any comments. ENJOY! (full frame is best)

Jen - what a great perspective of this much photographed sight.. I absolutely love the detail on the fence and the 'castle on the hill' recalls a dream of mine. Very nice work my friend! ~Mary~

I agree that full frame is always best. This is such a wonderful perspective of that place. I don't recall seeing the wall before. Great shot, Jen!

This must have been an incredible site to see in person. Perfect angle with the stone wall leading right up to the castle. Excellent capture Jen.

I love the stone walls over there, and this one is a dandy. Lindisfarne looks like the Land Of Oz sitting in the distance. Wonderful shot, Jen.

Great photo Jen and the wall really adds to this beauty. The angle you chose is perfect. It really shows how it sits on a knob. Good post.

Loads of interesting textures, Jen. The diagonal approach to the fence works so well. Love the clear colors that bring the season to the scene.

Next time you go out on an excursion, can you fit me in one of your bags? You can even check me in at the airport. You never know where I might wind up! LOL....

Jen this looks great in wide-screen. The Island has a whole other worldly feel to it and I really like the dry-stone wall running across the picture.

Jen, another surprising image from you from a well known and very much photographed spot. The perspective is rather different, but very good when compared with other images of this from place. Very good post.

What really surprises me is that you say you were there on not such a great day weather-wise. Yet the light in this looks fantastic. You've made me want to visit this place too - I think a visit to Northumberland is looming.
