Sheldon Church has lain in ruin for more than 120 years. Its gable roof, pediment, windows, and interior have disappeared, but the classic simplicity of its design still remains. i loved this place and the trees surrounding it. i understand that weddings are held here. all i can think of is how pretty the pictures would be and how bad the mosquitos would be. ........thanks in advance for your comments. enjoy this southern (SC) beauty!................ no uploads or comments from me for the next week. i'm off to try to cool off!

Wonderful lighting in this one, Jen. I have seen this from another angle? I would have liked to have seen it in its hey day. What a great setting for a wedding and actually, the bride would have no problem with mosquitos if she remained under her veil. lol The colors are really so good and the arching trees frame the subject so well. Very pretty shot, well captured.

Love the dappled light in the foreground, Jen. A very romantic scene and one that I might well find described in a book. In this case, I think the look is worth more than the thousand words! Have a great time!

Beautiful old ruin, and I love the way you framed it with the two trees and the moss dripping down. Lovely!

Love the dappled effect of the brick columns in the dappled shade. The original architect clearly knew what he was doing there.

You're off again! Ah the life of a traveler! Thanks for sharing this before you leave - I love the mystery of it. It's sad to think something so beautiful could fall to ruin so quickly though.

Framing is great and the columns look like brick trees. Love all the vertical lines working. A place of worship should have you looking up. Great colors and cool off.

This is why I do not post structures. It doesn't matter how good the photography is, the image won't get what it deserves. This is perfect. I love the color of the brick and the shades from the trees. Good work.
