Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

Isn't it funny how the word 'politics' is made up of the words 'poli' meaning 'many' in Latin, and 'tics' as in 'bloodsucking creatures’?
Wow ... I don't think I've seen a dragonfly with such intense red colors. The detail is superb & I like how it contrasts with the green. Magnificent capture Jen.

This is one beautiful shot of that dragonfly. I've never seen one that is that red before. I've seen blue and green one, but not this color. Wonderful image.

Colors and contrast are really nice. Trying to remember if I've seen a red one before.. can't say that I have.
Might be just me, but the reds in this beauty seem a bit over saturated. Not a major detractor.. just can't make out some minor details on the lower body as a result.
This certainly has plenty of "pop" to it.

It's a real beauty, particularly against the green (looks like Christmas). This breed is the Scarlet Darter (Crocothemis erythrea), and it's likely a male.
