On New Year's Day, i was lucky to meet a fellow caedes member, Robert (legster69), from New York. His good friend is John Hardison (AKA Fleas'). Robert comes to visit John (here in Arizona) and they love photographing birds. They asked if i'd like to meet them at the Gilbert Water Park and i was delighted to have the opportunity. If you look at Robert's gallery you'll see several of his new bird shots from the park. However, no water birds were photographed at this pond. Enjoy!

Nice post Jen and it is nice to meet Robert. Is this in your part of the world? A true desert oasis. Nice to meet people in Caedes. Now I have lens envy.

I've heard of this lens, but have never seen it in person. No wonder Robert gets so many great bird pics (well that and his evident talent), even if there was a scarcity of water fowl there. He's also smart to follow the sun down to your part of the world, Jen. I'm glad you all got together. *looks out the window at the white stuff falling down* :(

Thanks for sharing some of your good times!

Is Robert trying to measure the size of his uhh.. lens?
Hmmm, that's not fair since I can see his has an extender attached to his EF 70-200mm F4.
The question is: can he extend 1.4X or 2.0x?
(ha, ha, this is such a funny shot).
Good upload!

OH no, no water, no more Blue Heron photos. I just bought that same lens again, just need to get the extender now. Nice to finally meet you Robert after all the friendly advice you have given me in pm's for getting the big bird pics.
