Spider Rock,is in Arizona's Canyon de Chelly. it is considered sacred to the Navajo and is associated with Spider Woman who taught them how to weave. Navajo legend says Spider Woman lives on top of Spider Rock. Spider Rock is an 800 foot sandstone spire that rises from the canyon floor at Canyon de Chelly. it really is this red! Canyon de Chelly is one of the spots we visited this week. more photos to come. thanks for any comments, they are greatly appreciated. ENJOY!

A true beauty WC. The angle is perfect and the coloring outstanding. I can see the cavalry coming to the rescue on the desert floor below. Great post and information.

Great shot! I have stood on that point and admired the view myself, and I wonder if you noticed the ancient stone ruin at the base of Spider Rock referred to as a 'grainery' in park literature? That is a beautiful area, I look forward to more of your photos to bring back the memories.

Yeah, I know the c-index is extremely flawed but, really, why in the world would this fantastic shot garner only a 79? If I ever see it in the VB I'm giving it a 10. The offset position of the tower balances nicely with the stream meandering through and the clarity of the shot makes every bush pop. Wow.
