another beautiful virginia magnolia. i think it's grandiflora. please correct me if i'm wrong. ithis one is considerably bigger than a dinner plate. when i watch the magnolia growth progress i see that they go from large bud to open flower in about 3 days. they have a day or maybe 2 of perfection then their decline begins. thanks for any comments. ENJOY!

Each one of these gorgeous flowers are like a painting done on silk. SO very beautiful, they really should belong to a Audobon type magazine. I am looking forward to doing a painting, it will be a challenge due to the type of white they are. I loved these Magnolias when living in Louisiana. But they sure don't bloom for long, but the show they put on is so magnificent. Thank you for all these photos of yours. THey are so very beautiful to look at. Verena

See by your title that I've missed the first one Jen. The black background is a very appropriate choice for this one. Excellent post.

You must enjoy the exquisite and immaculate blossom and waste no time. They wither so much too soon ....

Of the three you've posted, I'd have to say this is the one I like the most. It's a nicely balanced shot, in terms of composition, and lighting. I know what you mean about the beauty of a magnolia. Their understated curves and fragile construction certainly make them intriguing subjects.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

Such a beautiful blossom plate WC. Such a short life span for such a beauty. Nice post.

Outstanding image, I think either the lights a little too harsh or there's a slight over sharpening when viewed full screen. Or maybe it's just my eyes? whatever the case it's a beautifully clean & crisp shot. Well spotted. 10/10.
