I really enjoyed photographing monks on this trip. There are so many of them (all ages). This monk appears to be relaxing with his cigar. I particularly enjoyed the lighting in this shot. Thanks in advance for any comments. ENJOY!

A wonderful post of this monk, Jen. That wall provides a nice panel of colors that compliment his rusty robes and he looks oblivious to the fact that he is being photographed. I was unaware that Buddhist monks took part in earthly pleasures. lol That is one great Nat. Geo image for sure and you know I love people shots, but they are the most interesting and beautiful subjects the world over. Can't wait for more! Be well and have a safe trip home.

Magnificent capture and lighting. Really like the way the light makes it really glow. They don't seem to mind you taking pictures of them.

You captured it perfectly - the light, the colors, the posture of the monk, just great!

COG pretty much covered the best attributes of this shot WC. I like it as well because of the coloring and of course the pose of the Monk. Maybe they are reenacting the Marx Bros and this is Groucho.

Jen - A beautiful color essay and, as Cindy notes, a National Geographic quality to this image. Outstanding capture. Thad

Fantastic shot Jen! Simple, but full of impact. It gets my mind exploring his possible thoughts, and the cigar is quirky. Bravo.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I... I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.

What wonderful subject matter. Plus i have learned something new! I never imagined i would see a monk with a cigar! It really adds an interest and a story to this picture which i think is great. The reds and yellows compliment are just pefection again the creamy walls. Wonderful!

This is shot is just amazing. I agree with Paul, this should be in a magazine. This shot shows that even the monks have a weakness for a good cigar.

I looked at this one twice and I really liked it. Paul got this right. This is a photo that should go into a magazine.
