Last night's moon was called a Super Moon because its orbit brought it closer to earth than it had been for a very long time. Here it is taken against a very dark Arizona sky. I used my canon 70-300mm with my 50D (hand held). Thought the moon was so neat! Thanks for any comments. ENJOY!

I was looking forward to seeing it but the clouds vanquished any hopes I had WC. This will do quite nicely.

It was cloudy here Jen so I can look at your image instead. It is wonderfully sharp considering it was taken hand-held.

" ... (hand held)."

Impressive shot, Jen.

I particularly enjoy the added details captured, insofar as the radial lines are concerned emanating from the ... erhm ... craters?

Got some creative editing food for thought for you.

As I think that your image here fits the bill well.

Phil's; aka philcUK tutorial ... "Faking the HDR thing..."

(Screenshots accompany his text and in it's entirety ... very easy to follow.)

Believe, once you get this technique down ... you will be tempted to make it a part of your workflow where any and all editing/post processing is concerned. Brings out some very nice and added dimensionality.

Top things off with some High Pass Sharpening (if need be), adjusted via the Opacity/Fill and/or changes to the Radius setting ... good good stuff.

Here is one quick and easy outline for the steps involved in Photoshop for the High Pass Sharpening method:

"High Pass Sharpening" ... courtesy of luminous-landscape.com.

(I would suggest bookmarking that site and having a look see at the other tutorials offered. Let alone other articles of interest.)

That said.. and moving the kitchen sink aside (threw everything at you with this commentary) to make way for these last, but not least words ...

But of course, thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)

Now yourself and Thad got me torn completely !!!
His moon looks more modest and elegant, while yours fuller and more impressive plus golden in colour which I simply love.
I gave both 10/10 in VB in the effect LOL
