This one reminds me of a cormorant. It could be some kind of cormorant. One frequently sees it on branches with its wings spread. They'll sit that way for long periods time. Sometimes they walk in the water up to their necks looking for fish.Seeing these unique birds was really a thrill. Thanks for any comments and looks. ENJOY!

Another beauty, Jen. Even Eagles sit like that for long periods when drying their wings.

Please chek-out THIS LINK to read more about darters or snakebirds like the American darter, commonly known as Anhinga. You're right Jen, because cormorants belong to the Anhingidae family.

Perfect 'portrait'. Well done again.

Nice capture of this strange looking bird with the wings wide open. I see Turkey Vultures do this a lot in Missouri.

Jen - It does have the shape of a cormorant, a bird that will dry itself by standing with wings spread for long periods of time. Well done! Thad
