This blue eyed beauty was so cute. Here's a comment from Wikipedia about them. There are 38 colonies of Adélie penguins, and there are over 5 million Adélies in the Ross Sea region. Ross Island supports a colony of approximately half a million Adélies. The Adélie penguins breed from October to February on shores around the Antarctic continent. Adélies build rough nests of stones. Two eggs are laid, these are incubated for 32 to 34 days by the parents taking turns (shifts typically last for 12 days). The chicks remain in the nest for 22 days before joining crèches. The chicks moult into their juvenile plumage and go out to sea after 50 to 60 days. Adélie penguins live in groups called colonies. Thanks so much for taking a look. ENJOY!

Love the eye capture, they are beautiful Jen. Just a suggestion I would have tried to clone out some of poo on the rocks, especially up in the front. You did a marvelous job on capturing the detail of this beautiful penguin. Tigs♥ =^..^=

A great shot Jen - he has a quizzical look. A perfect pose makes this extra special.

(One if its cousins, a Royal Penguin was found stranded in NZ a few days ago, 1200 miles from its Antarctic home. WellingtonZoo vets did all they could to save him but sadly he was too weak to survive. They think he may have drifted for a year. Poor wee thing :( )

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
