If you look way back in my gallery you'll see that I photographed another whale shark a long ago. This and the other one were taken at the Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa, Japan. This tank used to be the largest in the world until they built the Georgia Aquarium. I'm not big on captive animals but it's hard to resist this one. Enjoy!

I'm not a fan of captive animals either but it is fascinating to see these creatures up close and this is a fantastic capture...a fave for me.

I can see a few faint viewing windows in the back but they don't detract from the power and majesty of this critter or view. Wow.

By checking-out the above link, one can read: "They feed almost exclusively on plankton and are not known to pose a threat to humans.". I wonder how this (providing it with plankton) will be achieved in this aquarium.

Wow Jen, this is spectacular and the colours makes me feel like I'm right in the water along side. Whale sharks are very gentle

I wonder if the whale shark finds the accompanying cloak of fish around him to be irritating or comforting?
