Mindful looking at the infinite,
Interested in what it might bring,
Eagle-eyed, eager to know,
We stand, at the edge of knowledge,
Vigilantly detecting all that is in sight,
And yet, there is too much we will never know,
Too much that will never be cared for by humanity,
Too much never to be discovered,
Too much out to lunch,

A wonderful image, even with the lack of detail,
Very classy,
I like how your little brother is silhouetted. The crepuscular rays in the background are great too! I didn't notice too much grain either. A very nice post!
hey there C !!!
LOL...
i really like this picture... it has such a peaceful and calm look to it
the light coming out of the clouds, the rays of light at the back...
great shot Jess !

Apart from the beautiful composition and colours I really like the feel of this photo, and somehow a bit of grain goes well with that atmosphere..very beautifully done Jess !:)
The unusual perspective is the real draw here. The lines and shadows of the beach, reflective sand, water's edge and distant land all draw the eye to the right - where we see our subject and a shower of rays in the distance. Lovely. As for the graininess, I agree with Catharina; it's actually pretty cool -- gives the feel of a vintage postcard.
"There are no rules and regulations for perfect composition. If there were we would be able to put all the information into a computer and would come out with a masterpiece. We know that's impossible. You have to compose by the seat of your pants." -Arnold Newman
:( ALmost everything's said already. The rays of light and the silhouette are beautiful and their position is just right. The lines (horizon, the beach etc) lead the viewer's eye towards the area where are the silhouette, rays of light and the trees in the horizon. Nice work :)
Can't help but wonder what's going on in his mind at a time like this. I guess we all have a tendency to think of what we would be thinking, but that's a mighty big scene for a child to take in. Lovely shot!!
I think this picture is grainy because you used Diffuse Glow on Photoshop to get the clouds to glow like they are. Which is okay, but still, there's an option to turn the graininess off when you do it.
