Hey Jess,
I like this a lot, and I mean a whole lot, (~8
Sharper, yes, but not too much, the soft touch works very well with roses, thoughts fading away in all this beauty, (~8 8~)
Lovely done,

Superb colorings!! Closer...closer...that's it!! A wee too much greenery for me....go for it, get super close and blow this outta the water next time. A tripod would help with some loss of details!!
Well, once again I find myself at odds with the notion that there's too much green in a flower pic. I think it sets it off beautifully. I can't advise you on the sharp or soft approach. I'm having my own issues with that at the moment!!

I don't have a problem when the flowers are a little soft, they are soft and delicate by nature. Its always nice to have a nice crisp shot but this one is very pretty its in own right.
Have to side with PJ on the greenery on this one. If it weren't for the greenery, the red would have nothing to contrast with. As far as the sharpness, hmmmmm, ya, it could stand to be a bit crisper - but you already knew that. Nice composition.
I'm not the biggest fan of flowershot but surely this is very good with it's bright colours and detail even being a little blurry. At least in small sizes the blurryness doesn't matter at all.
