Jesse, I'm wondering what you consider "manipulation" to be. Basic image editing -- color, contrast, sharpening, etc. -- is a routine part of digital photography. I think your composition here is very good, and overall the image looks fine -- except, to my eyes, it seems a bit bright. If I were editing it, I would reduce gamma, lower the green channel, perhaps sharpen just a little, and reduce contrast a bit. But these are all minor edits that are subject to personal tastes.
I used the color range selection to select about 5 of the most predominant colors in the photo (except the sky) one at a time. On a different layer I used the "average" color of each color range to fill the selection. The effect is a very subtle impressionist or paint-by-numbers feel. As the "painted" sections to not comprise the entire image, the original photo sits in the background at a low opacity with a layer of white behind.
Ended up with the excess green when I lowered the blue levels.
