Great subject, although I think the lighting is a little harsh. I like the juxtaposition of the rose with the windowframe. Try having a look during sunrise / sunset, usually you get a cool blue (sometimes red!) light in the morning and a golden glow in the evening - it might bring out the flowers.

Putting your pictures in my favorites is the highest honor I can give you. If I do not get to your pictures as soon as you post them, I apologize. I try. Also if I do not respond for awhile it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you, it just means I'm really tied up with life. Bene lava!!

G'day Sheila,
A couple of comments I hope will be helpful.
Your subject is the sharpest element of the photo, that's good. Your subject is aligned on the line between the right third and the middle third, that also is excellent, much better than having it centred. The red background is an excellent contrast to the colour of the flower, it would be maximized by the flower being set ONLY against the red, not against the white of the window frame as well. The contrast between the frills of the flower petals and the chunky straight lines of the wall is also great. If I was going to be really fussy (Like I am with my own photographs sometimes.) I'd try to get one of the flowers fully facing the camera, but that's a more subjective call, the way you have it here is entirely cool.
You have a good eye Sheila.
Peace,
Mikel.

Do I need to look in a mirror to see myself?
