A little background on the shot:

I'm seeking a commercial, put-in-the-media-on-a-billboard type of shot. The strong white background is used to fulfill the commercial feel i'm seeking. Although she is pretty much a flawless girl, i did do a little bit of editing to the shot. The clarity of her skin to begin with was super crisp and I'm wanting to check and see if the little bit of editing to her face took away from that. I think the clarity is still pretty strong but want to know how you all feel.

Please be honest and constructive with your comments! I really want to improve! Thank you in advance to all who offer their thoughts!

Not sure about the lighting on her lips. Very nice though!

This one is much better than the last one. Because you have a bit of white on either side of the face, it makes the picture seem more even. Also the way her head is tilted has a very playful, lighthearted feel. The fact that the color of the face is normal also adds to the crisp, commercial feel. But unlike many commercial things (in a good way) the picture has a wholesome look. Many commercial pictures of women concentrate on a sensual, seductive feel. And the fact that the very makeup of this picture is just wholesome and bright and pleasant in a joyful way really really endears it to me. And I will admit, just to let you know I am human, the fact that she is pretty doesn't hurt things either. Just to be entirely honest.

But also, as with any photography, a great deal of the person's beauty is in the photographer. Even if the person is beautiful, if the photographer isnt' decent, they can turn out looking ugly. So great job, you captured the God given beauty of this person very well. Keep it up!

I think the shadows are too strong. Use white card or a sheet to create a fill in or to bounce the light or use multiple lights. Also as mentioned above the shine on the lips. The skin is much better. i still do not like the white background. Definitely better, but lets experiment.

Well, I must say that I like the advice you have generated by your request for comment and I have learned something too. If this is going to be billboard size, then I think with the above suggestions applied, you are ready to find a large billboard and post. This could probably sell almost anything, but toothpaste might be a good selection for marketing with this image. She has a happy demeanor and glow and you seem to have captured the look you were intending.

Hello Emily...They say the key to successful portraits is revealing the subjects character...Looking at this picture your subject has plenty of character and you have certainly captured that...Good effort Emily....All the best....Mick.
