Another shot from the marble cheesecake shoot. This one was a bit different from the last post but I also did some editing to try and apply as many of Les' suggestions as I could.

I'd like to know any suggestions, of course but also which do you like better? The cleaner version here, or the messier, crumblier (:-P) version in the first post.

Thanks for all your comments!

LOVE IT! May I make a request? Blood pudding or perhaps fish and chips? Ooh or toad in the hole, I love that one. :P See what you can learn by watching the travel channel and Andrew Zimmern? Haha, anyhow I like this one the best!

I like this much better, Emily. I like the smoother look to the cut of the piece. I might have left just a couple of crumbs on the other plate though for reality sake. You are definitely on the right track with these shots.

A rather astonishing difference to my eyes.

That said, make no mistake about my comments on your other image of this delicious cheesecake. To my mind now, one shot is suitable for more of down homey kind of feel ... this one here? Much more professional.

Changing the colour palate and warming things up worked out well, too.

Couple of suggestions.

Nice cloning work. Took your photo on this page, once again ... up to it's largest resolution and that is when I could detect (<--- key word here, as you did a really good good job). On that selection, add in a layer adjustment level, fill in the selection with 50% grey ... change the blending mode to Vivid Light and paint in some areas of dark. Low opacity for your brush, and I do mean low ... as in, less than 10% ... and start painting with 'light' and/or 'dark'. (Switch your backgrounds, in CS2 Photoshop anyways.)

Or ... possibly some film grain on that selection?

Here, because you have been so open to our suggestions ... an excellent ... excellent tutorial on Luminosity Masking.

Nice subtle changes in composition as well.

Being hyper ... hyper-critical now ... might have been tempted to adjust the setting a tad to not have the crust of the foreground piece nudge the outside right frame.

And I am in agreement with Cindy on leaving some ... some discrete crumbs on the back cake itself. Six of one, half a dozen of another really. It is now sinking home with me the trial and errors involved. It may be better ... perhaps, not. Not sure.

Allll that said ... I would summarize my thoughts thusly, I like the fact that you warmed this one up. 'Cleaner is better' overall, insofar as the actual slicing and presentation is concerned.

Nice ... work.

Next time? Make it a square cake and no complaints from moi. (Just kidding a bit here. :o) )
