Standing on the edge of sheer 300m cliffs, at a height of 1100m, the valley floor a whole 1km below... This is one aspect of the incredible view from Kristinartindar, the mountain that overlooks Skaftafell National Park, Iceland. Icelandic landscape and light are truly something else, and seem to have a deal between them to work together and produce the most spectacular scenery imaginable. Here the cloud cover and infrequent spots of light coming through meant dramatic views...

This is truly awesome James. The drama of the clouds against the mountain and the lone figure at the top is an amazing sight. What an excellent post. Sure glad you shared this one.

Wow, indeed! That guy gives some perspective to the scenery. The lighting like you say play beautifully together with the landscapes shapes and colors. This settles it. I have to go here some time during my life. Thanks for charing!

often in shots like this
some has a _i_was_here_ type of picture
this on the other hand needs the figure on that peak
it lends a sense of sheer size of the scene and to the power of the weather, such dramatic light and conditions
nice pose

must visit iceland ... ive some (polish) relatives living there

awesome shot straight into my faves

James, it is amazing but your photos have National Geographic quality. And the way you compose them - did you try to submit your works?
