Taken at 4:45am, at 1100m overlooking Godaland, land of the Gods, in the Thorsmork region, Iceland. I'd left the mountain hut at 3:50 to get to this view point in time, and then set up and waited for the glory. It was indescribable, I'm not even going to try other than to say the whole time I had to keep hitting myself to prove it was no dream. This shot was there for the taking for only about 20 seconds or so, the sun filtered through the far dotted clouds to send this wide shaft flinging across the landscape, and I was lucky enough to see it and photograph it. Needless to say, this morning was one of the highlights of my trip...!

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

I saw this earlier today. You have an impressive series from Iceland. This shot is perfectly timed to capture that atmosphere you describe. Godaland, land of the Gods. I can sure see where that name come from. This is a royal outlook.

For how many people do you think might yet stand on this planet before the sun grows cold? That's the responsibility we hold in our hands.
