I'm fairly blessed to be at a university such as Cambridge - not only is the teaching as good as it gets, the actual city itself is fantastic photographically. There's something to shoot everywhere, especially during the winter months with dramatic skies, wind-blown into streaks over 30 seconds, along with world-famous architecture and the occassional blanket of snow. I wouldn't want to be in any other city! This was taken only three nights ago, just after the sun had set.

A beautiful night photo. I loved Cambridge, but I loved Oxford as well, as a tourist, of course. This is so wonderfully lit.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

wow I've been to Cambridge and I have to say I loved it, there's not another city like it. The sky is incredible, as is the building.
Well done, very well done!

Lovely!! Amazing color and clarity. What aperture and ISO did you use?

Aperture was f/18 and ISO 100 - keeps the noise very low, allows for a long exposure which gave the coloured streaks in the sky. Anything about f/18 I've discovered actually tends to reduce the quality of the photograph, especially in terms of sharpness - I'd always read that the longer the exposure and the higher the f/value - the sharper the photo (not just depth of focus, actual sharpness) but it seems there is a ceiling on the merits of this - above f/18 and things go worse, rather than better. Still, low ISO and small aperture up to f/18 meant 30 seconds and a beautiful sky...

Like the way the walls are so crisp. The two street ights flaring seem to add to the overall image to me, and a sky to die for. Well done.
Cheers! Ray.

Stunningly dramatic sky is what attracted me to this image. And nice exposure work.
