Early morning clearing rain over Skogar, Iceland. I'd spotted the potential for a photo the night before, but had never dreamed of the rainbow being so exactly placed. Returning under rain, which thankfully soon cleared, the rainbow appeared and I took far too much time trying different compositions, and so got caught by the nxt downpour. The waterfall acts as lead-in to the mountain, and this was the best compositon I could find, simple and strong. the lighting on the mountain was by product of the clearing sky, and the specific timing allows such a clean crisp line between mountain and sky. This was a favourite of mine from this summer's trip...

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

G'day James,
Faved this immediately.
Superb shot, glad you took lots and got the shot. :) Much better than it's c-index in my humble opinion, maybe the thick black border is the cause of that, I use borders all the time but apparently some people hate them. Strong colours, great composition with all the lines aiming toward the lit mountain, water smoothed just right and the full arc of rainbow just to cap it all off. Magic.
Peace,
Mikel.

Wow, what an incredible picture! I would like it better without the border - yes I'm one of those people. Great job.

I have what may seem as a silly question....how do I take a photo of water and get that smooth flowing water? What settings?
