At first glance, this looked like a big pile of pencil shavings, though I'm guessing now they are metal drillings? Either way, nice depth and great subject for a background.

This looks like the stuff that is made when you peel an inudstrial eraser, you know, the paper unwinds and forms all of these curly-ques~! This is just a really cool shot. My grandkids will love it. One in the foreground for detail and a jumble of a hundred behind was a very good plan. The even color tones keep it from being a mess. This one was a very good find.
