And I found it. This beautiful old building is North Wales Hospital Locally known as the Denbigh nuthouse. It has been closed down for years and is slowly but surely rotting away. It has featured on Most Haunted, and I have to say that it really does have a feel of something about the place.

Al and I sneaked in there the other day for a look around ( not really allowed) and had a bit of a wander around the old wards and rooms. The silence there is something you have to experience for yourself, its very eerie. We didnt stay too long as we thought we saw a security guard at the end of one of the coridors and legged it lol. Such a beautiful building both in the past and now.

This is a side view leading off to the right of the building.

What a grand ole dame! Too bad she is rotting and falling apart. I love this post. Awesome capture, Jo.

I bet Napoleon is roaming those empty corridors Jo. Hopefully you took some shot inside this beautiful structure. It is relatively a young building (166 years) by the standards of your country.
Someone is crazy to let it stand empty.
Good post.

It is an impressive building Jo and you have captured its Victorian beauty.

Strangely I can not remember ever having seen it but of course was aware of it presence and heard it mentioned frequently :(
Not sure what I think about it - veering towards letting the ghosts have it. There must be a lot of pain and suffering captured within those walls.Your link said something about its conversion into private homes. Not sure I would want to live there. (perhaps I would feel quite at home lol)

Very nicely captured and presented. A great looking structure and marvelous architectural details. The muted lighting and colours has created a wonderful dreary / haunted mood in your photograph, fitting in well with its former status. Great work and thanks for the link.

Why do these places always seem to look this way? Inspiration for many stories and movies, I guess...Nice capture, Jo...Favs...
