I can't believe it...You don't know the difference between satin and burlap?!?! Try sleeping on burlap...LOL This is makes an awsome abstract irised sky. I love how the movements converge in the middle. Fantastic work of imagination, dear John. :)

I'm inclined to be included in the crochet/knitted crowd, but it's smoother than that..definitely not burlap..man that stuff will make you itch from here and back. I'm talking myself into believing that I have never seen a texture quite like this in reality, so it must be something special that only you could manufacture, and I'm lovin' it, Mr. Cowardly.
It's embroidery, done in not-quite-the-shiniest silks, using all six strands. It's all done in straight stitches - like Florentine work - but, unlike Florentine work, the pattern and stitch length varies (so not much like Florentine work, then). It has that particular texture because it is raised. It is padded strategically - either with actual padding or with padding stitches, with the decorative embroidery completely covering the fill.
Gorgeous colours, though, if these are clouds, they are very oddly situated. It appears to be night, but they are brightly lit by more than moonlight, I think! Also, they look a bit heavy to be hanging in the sky like that. I think the picture is upside down. This is really a fantastically coloured hill with an interesting knobbly-looking outcrop on top.
Very nice - except I worry it is going to fall at any moment!
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Hi John,
Just wanted you to know I have seen and viewed all of your recent postings and saved many of them. Not able to participate like I was due to family cares.
Satin clouds is really unique. It amazes me how you come up with these beautiful designs. Take care.
