man what a night! 3 no rain lightning storms in 4 hours in Poland in July 2005. Damn auto everything digicam had max exposure of 2 seconds and a cycle time of about 4. Out of 300 pitch black photos this and two others came out. 100% about luck and nothing else [cool] Slight correction to colour cast and minor cropping including rotating by 5˚ to fix horizontals other than that ITS REAL!!!

I love this. I want to capture lightning very badly. I have yet to do so. Congratulations, even if it was luck.

Well it was worth it. Imagine how annoyed you would have been if you got nothing at all from 300 shots... I have been told the best way to capture lightning is to just leave the shutter open until a strike occurs, and then close it (this also works very well for fireworks, apparantly). But of course if you only have an automatic camera, that tip won't help much. Anyway, good shot!

Exactly, it looks like a lightning tornado. The blue is very nice as a background. Too bad you only had a crapy camera with you. Nice job.

it amazes me when someone can get a shot like this. it takes as you said so many shots to get this one perfect image.Lightning has got to produce the most fascinating and exquisite photographs....oh and i also love the roof top shadows, very neat.

I was stunned when I first saw this image and downloaded it without a second thought. Its the first time I have seen what happens when a tornado and lightning bolt attack a house at the same time (they must really not like that house.)
