compare this single exposure to the hdr (3 exposure) version [here]. It's quite amazing how much is lost in over exposure of highlights and under exposure of lowlights! such is the relatively low dynamic range of a cam. This photo had best effort exerted on it in a shadow/highlight operation, yet fails miserably to pull any attractive image out of it. HDR (high dynamic range) techniques when they are appropriate seem to be quite amazing. This photo is only here for comparison's sake with the hdr version
