You captured more than a human form here.
There is a story in that face and the hot sun beating down emphasizes how hard and difficult that story is.
His hands either outstretched for assistance or wrung with worry are highlighted nicely.
That cigar providing pleasure and incentive for life, but like the smoke it provides that life slips through those aged hands.
A truly fabulous photo journalism shot.
Thank you for such a great shot. Being Cuban, I can tell you that man has probably suffered a lot in his life. Look at his withered mouth and his skin! That's why I don't understand why people like Michael Moore make movies like "Sicko" which portray Cuba in a favorable light (help which is there, but only for tourists with money, not the Cuban people).
There is a lot said in this photo...years of life...pain..work..
The clothes, the shelter from the sun with the hat...it speaks volumes here..very well done..The only negative I would say would be that the photo maybe should be a bit sharper, but I know with that bright sun coming in, it would be difficult to get. Yes its definitely a photo journalism type picture, thanx for posting it, would like to see more of yoru work....Verena
thanks alot everyone...i only use a canon powershot a540 for pictures...but ive changed highlights, darks, brightness and what not. But yeah I think this is def one of my favourite pictures Ive taken. I thought it was a classic Cuba picture. Typical stereotype. But at the same time, not cheezy, just real. Thanks again.
